A2. Mork - Birds (Frankie J Defeathered Mix)
B1. Frankie J - When It Get Hot
B2. Frankie J - When It Get Hot (Mork's Murder Rate Remix)
Well, it's
been a while but we are proud to present you with the 22nd release from The Sound Republic's label Spatula City! John and Frankie have
been marinating on life (and as the title suggests, making nice with eachother)
over the last couple of years and each weighed in with their own awesome
original tune -- Mörk's "Birds",
a dark and haunting but still dancefloor-friendly number, and Frankie J's "When It Get Hot",
a funky slice of deep piano house to get the asses shaking. Both contributed
remixes to each tune -- Frankie deep and jazzifies "Birds" while
more synthifies "When It Get Hot". Fans of TSR's tried and true sound will love Frankie's contributions, and
the indie dance/nu-disco crowd should thoroughly enjoy Mörk's numbers. Either
way, Spatula City is happy to bring
this record to you and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed
making it!

It's all happening. We are getting the band
back together. The Sound Republic will be performing at Smart Bar
tonight after a 4-1/2 year hiatus. This could prove to be totally
disastrous to your pants and various undergarments. Bring your helmet.posted by Frankie J | Fri, February 8 | 2:47 PM | Permalink
So Matt has mastered almost every single Flapjack & Spatula City vinyl release. The ones he didn't do were because he was on holiday. I guess he deserves a break every once in a while. He just won "Mastering Engineer of The Year" and above is a pic of him receiving the award. Matt has a great deal to do with why the FJ & SC sound is the quality that it is. Congrats Matt! Below is a little something mentioned about him from some of the clients he has worked with. I wonder why they didn't ask me for a quote? ;)" Matt is a man with golden ears and a bag of fairydust underneath his console. We've always been thrilled with his contribution to our music. " -
Chris Martin
" Each one of my records have seen further, by standing on the shoulders of Matt Colton, who seems to be a Giant." - James Blake

This past weekend was International Bacon Day and it was celebrated here in Chicago at the famed Sunday Brunchlox party held at Karl Almaria's (of Bunchlox Records) house. I happened to stop through there and chow down on plenty of bacon, pulled pork, and other random bacon infused delights such as bacon drizzled sticky buns. Between all the eating and drinking I also found time to DJ. Here is my bacon infused DJ set from the party:posted by Frankie J | Mon, August 23 | 6:40 PM | Permalink

Spatula City Records is proud to presents its 21st release! Back after a three year hiatus from the land of kitchen utensils returns France's favorite sons Bobby & Klein with their new record "French Toast EP". First established on Spatula City three years ago with their dance floor smash hit "Party All Night", the duo returns with a super heavy cream pour of pure funky house perfection.
The first tune "Get That Bass" is a
straight away bass line banger. Funky rhythms alongside a wicked wobbly
bass line makes for loose belts and pants falling down fun on the dance
floor. This tune is a favorite among
swingers and sex addicts alike.
The second cut on the A side
continues with the bass line madness. "Keep It Coming"
incorporates a juicy bass line smothered over Latin rhythms, complete with
a sexy vocal hook that keeps you coming back for more ;)
On the backside we have the "Party
All Night (Original Recipe)" , which has been long awaited by many
house music enthusiasts. This mix mimics the original that was released
three years ago, except it has a killer wicked radio intro that is perfect
for starting off dj sets and hyping up the crowd. It is an absolutely
wonderful dj tool.
To seal the deal B&K give us the "aNyO
- Boom Boom Boom (Bobby & Klein Badaboom Mix)". This is
an absolute classic danceoor jam that has just been waiting for a home and
has finally found it. Welcome home baby!
